Microsoft jumps Windows 10 builds yet again in preparation for BUILD preview

Back in early January, Microsoft did a thing which they only usually do when preparing for a big public Windows release, and that's jump development builds. January saw the company jump from build 99xx to 10000, giving the development team breathing room to continue compiling candidate builds in the 99xx range for the January Technical Preview.
The same has happened again today, with the company jumping from 1006x to 10100. To Insiders, this doesn't mean much. But If history is to repeat itself, todays build jump is allowing the development team a bit of breathing room to continue compiling candidate builds for the BUILD Insider Preview, which could end up being compiled around 1007x or 1008x.
It's good to see Microsoft getting into gear for BUILD, as the conference is but a couple of weeks away now. Microsoft is expected to unveil a 'feature-complete' build of Windows 10 at its annual BUILD conference, along with more Windows 10 mobile changes and more HoloLens action. Stay tuned at WinBeta for more.

Kidnapped Tanzanian albino boy found dead with limbs hacked off

The killing of one-year-old Yohana Bahati is the latest murder for body parts used by witch doctors, police say.
Albino children studying at the Mitindo primary school for the blind in Tanzania. At least 74 people with albinism have been murdered in the country since 2000.

A one-year-old boy with albinism has been found dead in Tanzania with his arms and legs hacked off, the latest such murder for body parts used by witch doctors.
Yohana Bahati was kidnapped by men who broke into his home and slashed his mother with machetes in the northern district of Chato late on Saturday. Police found his mutilated body on Tuesday afternoon in a forest area near his home.
“His arms and legs were hacked off,” Joseph Konyo, the regional police chief, told Agence France-Presse on Wednesday.
The baby’s mother, Ester Jonas, 30, is in a serious condition in hospital with machete cuts to her face and arms after she tried to protect her son. The father, who was nearby during the attack, is being questioned by police.
Body parts from people with albinism are removed to make charms and spells that witch doctors claim bring good luck and wealth. The body parts sell for around $600 (£389) in Tanzania, with an entire corpse fetching $75,000 (£48,619), according to the UN.
Alvaro Rodriguez, the UN’s country chief, was quoted by AFP as saying he was “deeply concerned by the abductions of these two young children”, adding that at least 74 people with albinism have been murdered in Tanzania since 2000.
“These attacks are accompanied by a high degree of impunity, and while Tanzania has made efforts to combat the problem, much more must be done to put an end to these heinous crimes and to protect this vulnerable segment of the population.”
The UN has warned that such attacks are increasing ahead of elections in Tanzania in October, with politicians turning to witch doctors to improve their luck.
Rodriguez added: “This is the year of elections in Tanzania and, as some analysts have suggested, it could be a dangerous year for people living with albinism.”
The country banned witchcraft in December in an attempt to prevent attacks and kidnappings. But Vicky Ntetema, executive director of Under The Same Sun, a Canadian nonprofit organisation working to defend people with albinism, criticised political leaders for failing to intensify the effort.
“There’s absolutely no political will among leaders to end these macabre killings ... what is so special with these (traditional) healers to the extent that our leaders ignore albino killings?
“Albinism is not a disease. People must understand albinos are normal people like everyone else and the government has a role to play to ensure this education reaches many people since most of the killings involve members of the family.”
Albinism is a hereditary genetic condition which causes a total absence of pigmentation in the skin, hair and eyes. A 2006 report by BMC Public Health said albinism affects one Tanzanian in 1,400 - around 33,000 people – a far higher rate than in the west, where it affects just one in 20,000. The cause is thought to be inbreeding.
A US survey in 2010 found that while most people in Tanzania are Christian or Muslim, 93% said they believed in witchcraft.

Lost your phone? Just Google it

Lost your phone? Just Google it
Becoming reunited with your lost phone just got a whole lot easier. It doesn’t matter if you're alone and don't have access to another phone to ring your cell to see if it has slipped down the back of the sofa. To make life a little easier, Google is rolling out a feature that enables you to conduct a Google search for your phone.
Whether you have mislaid it in the house, or somewhere further afield, Google will help you to track down your beloved handset. You just need to make sure that your phone is updated with the latest version of the Google app and you're ready to go phone hunting. It's a bit like an extension of the feature found in Android Wear, so how does it work?
As we've already alluded, sending out a virtual search party for your phone works like a regular Google search. Fire up your web browser, head to Google.com and type -- you've guessed it -- "Find my phone".  Provided you are signed into the same Google account on the computer as on your phone, Google will then work its magic and use your phone's GPS to show you its location on a map.
If the map shows that your handset appears to be very close by, there's a handy 'Ring' option which, you know, rings your phone so you can hear where it is. If you have more than one phone connected to your account, there's a drop down menu so you can select which one you are interested in.
This is a feature that Google has launched with very little fanfare, but it's one that is sure to come in handy for a lot of people at some point in the future. It might not have all of the features of Android Device Manager (there's no remote wiping, for instance), but as a quick 'n' dirty solution, it's great.

Apple Watch is coming… but when? [Update: not any time soon

Apple Watch launches

Apple’s first wearable went up for pre-order last week, with early estimates suggesting it managed to sell close to a million devices in the US in one day alone. Reuters estimates 6 percent of US adults intend to buy the device. Oddly though, Apple has so far not released any official pre-order figures, which is strange if the device is the success that it appears to be. Why isn’t Apple shouting about it from the rooftops? What is it waiting for?
Another more pertinent question is this: when will Apple start selling the device -- for real -- and in-store? 24th April you say? Well that’s what Apple originally said, but that no longer appears to be the case.
Anyone pre-ordering the Apple Watch online can now expect to wait months before they receive their purchase. Some Apple Watch models have shipping dates listed as 4-6 weeks, while the Apple Watch Sport and Apple Watch Edition have shipping dates shown simply as "June".
Meanwhile, on the Apple.com website, the on-sale date -- the fabled 24th April -- has vanished. In its place is a vague "The Watch is coming" message.
Over on the UK version of the site, the 24th of April is still shown as the on-sale date. So that suggests that Brits will be able to buy the device then (although the online shipping delays are exactly the same for UK purchasers as they are for US ones).
So what’s going on? The obvious suggestion is that demand has seriously outstripped supply. Apple always limits the availability of new products at launch, so it can create an inflated illusion of popularity. The more popular something appears to be, the more people will want it. The harder it is to get, the more desirable it becomes, and so on.
But in this instance, Apple appears to either have seriously underestimated how popular the Apple Watch was going to be, or it’s run into supply problems and is struggling to meet the planned release date.
Either way, if you were hoping to walk into an Apple Store next Friday and walk out with a brand new Apple Watch, you’ll need to rethink your plans.
Update: According to a leaked internal memo from Apple’s retail chief, Angela Ahrendts, Apple Watch won’t be available to purchase in-store for a good while to come. Here’s what she said:
Team,
On behalf of Tim and the rest of the executive team, I want to thank you very much for making last Friday’s debut of Apple Watch unforgettable. The Previews going on in our stores and support from our Contact Centers are unlike anything we have done before.
The feedback from customers is overwhelmingly positive. They are excited about Apple Watch, and your teams are creating fantastic experiences for them. Customers who pre-ordered will start receiving deliveries next Friday as planned, and I know you will do a great job helping them get set up.
Many of you have been getting questions asking if we will have the watch available in stores on April 24 for walk-in purchases. As we announced last week, due to high global interest combined with our initial supply, we are only taking orders online right now. I’ll have more updates as we get closer to in-store availability, but we expect this to continue through the month of May. It has not been an easy decision, and I want to share with you the thinking behind it.
It’s important to remember that Apple Watch is not just a new product but an entirely new category for us. There’s never been anything quite like it. To deliver the kind of service our customers have come to expect -- and that we expect from ourselves -- we designed a completely new approach. That’s why, for the first time, we are previewing a new product in our stores before it has started shipping.
Apple Watch is also our most personal product yet, with multiple case and band options because it’s an object of self-expression. Given the high interest and initial supply at launch, we will be able to get customers the model they want earlier and faster by taking orders online.
I know this is a different experience for our customers, and a change for you as well. Are we going to launch every product this way from now on? No. We all love those blockbuster Apple product launch days -- and there will be many more to come. They’re the moments where you, our teams, shine. And our customers love them as well!
Apple Watch is an exciting new product and we are at the start of a very exciting time at Apple. You’re the best team on earth and you are doing an amazing job.
For customers who want to buy a watch, please continue to help them place their order online. Also make sure they know that, wherever they buy, Apple will provide them with a great Personal Setup experience -- either online or in our stores. This includes syncing their Apple Watch with their iPhone and teaching them about all the incredible features of their new Apple Watch.

18 burnt to death in explosive Morogoro Region road accident.

Eighteen people were burnt to death and eleven others severely injured when a passenger bus collided with a truck early yesterday morning and police say the driver of the bus is to blame for reckless driving.

Morogoro Regional Police Commander Leonard Paulo confirmed the incident and said; “the bus driver was reckless and over speeding…he cause the disaster.”

He went on to confirm that the tragic accident occurred along the Morogoro–Iringa highway near Msimba village on the perimetres of Morogoro Region.

“There was an explosive collision between Mitsubishi Fuso truck and a passenger bus code-named Nganga Transporting Commuters that was travelling to Mbeya from Kilombero,” detailed the RPC.

He identified the vehicles involved to have registration number T373 DAH and T164 BKG for the bus and truck respectively.

In what can be described as one of the worst road accidents to occur in the region in the recent past, the RPC said the injured were transported to the St Kizzito Hospital in Mikumi-Kilosa District and bodies of the diseased have also been preserved at the hospital.

St Kizzito Hospital Doctor in charge Dr Boniventure Buyagabuyaga confirmed receiving eighteen bodies which he said could not be
identified visually because they were burnt beyond recognition.

He said out of 11 people who were injured, 7 remain at the hospital while the rest are been treated at the Mtandika dispensary in Msimba village.

This road accident only goes to add onto the seemingly worsening road tragedies the country is facing this year.

Thursday last week, at least ten people died on the spot after three vehicles – two commuter buses and a saloon car – were involved in a road accident at Mbweni near Mkata in Handeni District.

Juma Ndaki, who is the Acting Tanga Regional Police Commander, said the crash left another 35 people severely injured.

The two buses were identified as Ngorika with registration number T770 BKW which was heading to Arusha from Dar es Salaam and Ratco registration number T665 CBR which was heading to Dar es Salaam from Tanga and the third vehicle was a saloon car registration T628 CXE which was heading to Arusha but whose make was not specified.

Two other people also died on the spot in another tragic road accident after an upcountry bus christened ‘Happy Nation’ that plies the Dar es Salaam-Mbeya  route overturned around the Kikwaraza Mikumi area in Morogoro Region.

Reports say some forty eight passengers were severely injured and according to eye witnesses, the accident was caused by reckless driving of the bus driver who the witnesses say was over speeding.

In contrast, the December 2014 traffic report by Chief Traffic Police Commander Mohamed Mpinga said road accidents had decreased.

Mpinga reported that the number of road accidents in the county had decreased by 38.2 per cent from 21,791 recorded between January and November 2013 to 13, 466 in same periods last year

Kagera Police manhunt throat-cutting murderers

Police in Kagera region have launched an intensive and extensive investigation on throat-cutting murderers who are alleged to be selling the body parts of their victims to neighbouring Uganda, the Regional Police Commander has said.

This grisly development comes in the wake of heinous killings of people with albinism that have placed people the disability and their relatives in perpetual fear for their lives and tainted the image of the country in Africa and beyond.

And as if this was not enough atrocity on innocent lives, elderly people and especially those with red eyes resulting from smoke as they blow to rekindle fire on firewood or charcoal stoves have fallen victim to cutlass wielding killers on the pretext that such people are witches.

As is the case with killers of people with albinism who are believed to be carrying out the attacks to get parts of the victims for superstitious rituals in search of quick and easy fortunes, so are the macabre murders in Kagera region where some people allegedly believe in ancient myths that sacrifice of innocent people would bring fortune to the perpetrators of the ghoulish criminal acts.

Other morbid killings which have stained the country include those in Mbeya where murderers were skinning their victims and allegedly selling the human skins in underground markets in neighbouring Malawi. Even before that there had been stories of people with warped minds in Kigoma who were killing people with bold heads in superstitious beliefs.

Kagera RPC Henry Mwaibambe has said the killings have made thousands of residents in Kagera region live in anxiety and great fear; adding that the police have tightened security and that investigations were underway at all points reported to be routes of human body parts smugglers and a dozen of suspects were being held in Police custody.

“We are investigating Kanyigo village which is in Tanzania and we have been told that through Lake Victoria to Kasensero shore in Uganda is also the murderers’ route but I am sure we will stop this boorish practice” he said adding: “It has been difficult for the Police because this crime is new to this region”

Kagera region has been experiencing various crimes such as illegal weapons; livestock robbery and illegal immigrants from neighbouring countries such as Rwanda and Burundi

“Since the reports of cut-throats emerged in August last year, three people have been found dead in Bukoba municipality and three others have been admitted to region government hospital in Bukoba with injuries” he said.

“Police postmortem has found that the three dead bodies have big cut at the back of their necks and big cuts on their heads,” he added.

However, the police boss has warned people to stop spreading rumours and false information saying by doing so many people in the region will live in apprehension.

Body parts of the victims are believed to be smuggled to Uganda where they are used by witch doctors in their rituals and ‘medicinal’ concoctions. Unconfirmed reports say body parts have become “good business” whereas some of businessmen in Kagera have make fortunes out of human bodies

Even though the Police in region insist that there is “no evidence yet” of human body parts smuggling, they have undertaken intensive investigation throughout the region.
